Last night they were playing in Hamburg, but they look as fresh as ever and full of enthusiasm. They are brimming with energy and more than ready for a Saturday night headline.

Earlier this year they spent 5 weeks touring America, where in their own words, "they went down a treat". After that they caught up on "life", Bruce starting a family, Nathan buying a house and Fiona chilling out with friends and family. But don't be fooled, they are now working on the final 12 tracks to make up the new album in time for a Christmas release.

There are plenty of words that sum up The Whip ie. Electro, Indie, Dance, New Rave Punk and so on….. quiet a lot to live up to. They say some of their influences are from Soulwax, and love Electro and House. It's all mixed up to provide their own unique sound. It's impossible to stand still, and their songs stick in the memory. (I was humming Muzzel No 1 for days!)

They are aiming to develop their live shows with more light effects. ‘It’s not all about the music it a whole show’ say the band.

After all the touring and spending lots of time in each other pockets they still get on amazing well. They really seem to bounce off each other.

I asked them what they thought about head lining on the Saturday night immediately followed by the Fall. They have great respect for the legendary Mark E Smith - Fiona’s sister once played keyboards with him. Wishing her family was there as they were all fans of the band.

I find The Whip one of the most stimulating current bands who really stand out from the crowd. Their enthusiasm, energy, full of life and comradeship shine through their music.

Looking forward to that next album. The sooner the better.
