Inexhaustible is the work ethic of Will Georgantas. Only last year he released Open Book, a collection of everything he’s ever recorded under the Thunderegg moniker, then abandoning his drum machine and four-track, he released his first album with a live band, and now, This Week sees Georgantas commit an entire year to magnetic tape. How he finds the time remains a mystery.
The best of a 52-song catalogue, This Week is a distillation of all that is loveable about Thunderegg - low fidelity, comedy, melancholy and cute observation abound, Georgantas providing insight into what is at once peculiar and mundane through songs inspired by glasses of water, documentaries about puffins and visits to restaurants.
With a gift for capturing life and bottling, it is with every strum of acoustic guitar and whispered stanza that you will be left wanting more.
