For those who haven’t had a chance to attend a concert at the BBC Radio Theatre, the venue looks cosy and is quite small, allowing a tiny crowd of just about a 100 people. It made this concert even more intimate, more emotional. It was a celebration and a farewell, a cosy party with friends and the end of a chapter.

Kicking off with Stay With Me, Sam Smith’s voice is wonderfully vibrant and deep. Sam himself looks in a great shape, wearing a black suit and a white shirt that mark his weight loss.
Right after this first song, the singer tells the audience that this is his last time ever performing his first album on a British stage. Album number two is on the way and so is the intense promotion tour.
To introduce his next song, Sam simply said: “Let’s go straight into the depressing stuff; this is Leave Your Lover”. His voice goes from very low and strong to high and delicate. His powerful vocals and the emotion, meaning and heart he puts in his performance is mind-blowing.

Performing Like I Can, the British singer got the audience dancing and singing along like there was no tomorrow. Latch, his first song with Disclosure, had the same wave effect on every single person in the room.
Not In That Way made the whole venue go quiet; the emotion was palpable and some soft tears rolled on the cheeks of more than one person.

What is really enjoyable, apart from the great songs that we can all relate to and Smith’s out-of-this-world voice, is the interaction. The singer talks to his audience, makes them feel like they are a part of his world, a part of his life. He declared: “These songs are not my songs anymore, they’re yours!”

The last song was Stay With Me and Smith requested the public to join in and to sing with him. He made the song last, as if he wanted to make the most of this night, creating a memory that would stick with him for a long time.
