Indie Worcester quartet “Peace” which is lead by Harry Koisser played a moderately long set in front of a 50 or so crowd in the former site of the Hammersmith Palais which is now Pure Gym. Whilst the gym was still open, the band played a collection of songs from both of their albums (“In Love” their debut as well as their recently released effort “Happy People”) in one of the studio rooms in the basement of the gym.

Despite the unusual setting for the gig, the sound was not affected, neither were the fans who had no trouble forming a small mosh pit throughout the set. The entire show had a fair amount of coverage, inside and out, with the organisers of this fantastic event, Skullcandy, made this a night that know one would ever forget. Not to mention the generous hospitality of a bar tab pre and post set next door in the draft house.

The Hammersmith Palais immortalised in a song by The Clash opened its doors in 1919 and played host to thousands of music nights of jazz, swing, pop, rock, bhangra and ska over its 88-year history. The retired venue had played host to handful of famous artists, including the Clash, Rolling Stones and The Sex Pistols. Peace did not disappoint the venue’s nostalgic moment and I’m sure they’ll have a bright future, gaining greater success in these shores, as well as globally!
