Renowned Australian tribute artist Mark Andrew has mastered the likes of Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, Buddy Holly and Austin Powers just to name a few. Starting out at the tender age of 8 in school productions, Andrew's went on to form his own band in 1992 called the Blue Suede Dudes and has also performed with Normie Rowe, Frankie Holden, Wilbur Wilde and Mental as Anything.

With over 15 years experience performing and emulating rock legends, Andrew's has been seen by many, including Elvis' road manager Joe Esposito. Esposito paid Andrew's the ultimate compliment by telling him that his performance, "brought back so many memories".

Currently touring around Australia, Andrew's took time out of his busy schedule to discuss his Legends Showcase concert and his love of 60's memorabilia.

Music News - What can you tell me about your early days as performer? I understand you started performing when you were 8 - years - old.

I started drama and dance at school and was involved in any performances they had. I then learned guitar when I was 14 and performed in Church on many occasions.

On arrival back to Australia after living 8 years in Malta, I decided to appear on New Faces trying to get myself out there. I pursued with my interest and after performing in my own Rock n Roll Band in the early 90s I started emulating characters from the 60s, which became my full time job in 2002.

Music News - I hear that your tribute show is mind-blowing and you have mastered Elvis, Jim Morrison and Buddy Holly, just to name a few. What can the audience expect to see?

It’s like band stand or Ed Sullivan show except it’s all me as different performers. Costumes, mannerisms, facial expressions, voice and speaking voice all change from one character to the next.

Music News - How did you feel when Elvis' Road Manager Joe Esposito, said that your show "brought back so many memories”?

He didn’t seem interested in the beginning of the show but he came up to the stage for a closer look and was entranced in my performance and said I took him back there, he had his hands clamped together and he loved it! I also toured with Linda Thompson, ( Elvis’ Longtime Girlfriend) she told me I made her miss Elvis.

Music News - Considering that the music industry is so fickle. What advice would you give to musicians starting out?

Determination, put your guards up with knock backs and persist, practice and perfect.

Music News - If you could perform with anyone, either living or passed, who would it be?

I have performed with and met many great people, but to perform with my daughter Tahlia once she is famous that would be great.

Music News - Music aside, what do you like doing in your spare time?

I have a love for collecting 60’s Memorabilia and classic cars, I am restoring a 1964 Split screen Kombi at the moment.

Music News - What’s on your career wish list?

To have an original hit and to do some more acting work.
