Saturday 12th July saw one of the most renowned dance music festivals take place at super venue, the Milton Keynes Bowl. As one of the best venues around - with Swedish House Mafia filming their farewell extravaganza in the vast space - it was the perfect location for the festivities.
As is the case with most festivals, there were some last minute changes, with the two-day festival trimming down to become a one-day bonanza instead. With this came some changes to the line-up with Calvin Harris previously scheduled to headline the festival on the Sunday instead playing in the early afternoon on the Saturday. We understood that he had to make it to Scotland for T In The Park but it was a shame for such a big act to have the early slot.
Regardless of the Calvin Harris change, the festival was jam-packed with great music and festival-goers were in extremely high spirits dressed in an array of colourful outfits. After all, some of the most iconic DJ's in the world had gathered to give the EDC crowd the best in dance and electronic music.
Not only was there a stellar line-up and an incredible venue but the state-of-the-art production was jaw-dropping. From a firework display to the largest flame units ever used in Europe, the whole place was magical! If that wasn't enoguh, there were theatrical performers and fairground rides as well as glow-in-the-dark body paint, which gave guests the opportunity to paint themselves with designs that lit up under the blue-light inside a massive tent.
Calvin Harris' set proved exactly why he is on the Forbe's rich list, spinning out hit after hit to a ginormous crowd. His current huge hit 'Summer' finished off his incredible set and had festival revellers ready for the night ahead.
Steve Angello took to the stage after an incredible hour long set from Steve Aoki, to play us some of Swedish House Mafia's classics including Don't You Worry Child'. During his set, he had fire dancers to add to the theatrics of the carnival theme.
Finishing off EDC and headlining the festival, was the young DJ, Aviici. Taking to the Kinetic Field stage, he played his chart-topping hits ‘Le7els’, ‘Fade Into Darkness' and ‘I Could be the One’. He of course had to end his set on his biggest hit to date, ‘Wake Me Up’, which was accompanied by lasers and a huge firework display.
Electric Daisy Carnival certainly did not disappoint!
