We Are Fstvl is back again and this time for an epic 2 days in which the weather optimised British Summer Time. The Essex EDM festival which won best new festival 2013 was wet and miserable on the Saturday and of course hot and sunny on the Sunday. The Upminster event hosted some of the worlds best DJ’s in what was a perfect way to kick off the summer.
The biggest names were undoubtedly headlining on the Sunday with an all star line up of Duke Dumont, Annie Mac and none other than Fatboy Slim who closed the weekend. Let’s not forget the brilliant sets on Saturday with Knife Party topping the bill.
Despite the festival spanning from the early hours of the morning (for a bank holiday) until late at night, there was plenty to do whilst waiting for your favourite DJ. A mini fair ground coupled with stalls and an indoor dance tent, We Are Fstvl really did cater for everybody (over 18 of course….or we’d like to think so!). The atmosphere throughout the weekend was electric, especially during the night with killer set’s from the countries top DJ’s, past and present.
The highlight of the weekend was in no doubt, Fatboy Slims closing performance which brought everyone together with classic tunes such as ‘right here right now’ and ‘eat sleep rave repeat’. It was the first time I had ever seen him live and I can safely say, it will certainly not be the last!
Despite We Are Fstvl being relatively unknown, it proved last weekend that it can compete with the more popular EDM festivals such as Lovebox and SW4, attracting big artists and crowds alike.
