The name of the Curst Sons latest album really sums up their sound: grassroots genres mixed together for something entirely fresh, original and genuine. This offering is another great addition the band’s discography.
Somewhat slower than their previous release 'Hey Moon’, it contains more of a folk sound overall, however that’s only marginal and the eclectic mix of traditional genres is still very much present. They employ more vocal harmonies which give the tracks a whole other dimension along with their imaginative instrumentation: from spoons to washboards.
The songs’ content still tell interesting stories, from a comical track about hate to having an entirely bad day to a more serious matter of a man cheating on his wife. The lyrics draw you in to find out about more of these stories and where they will take you to next.
This is an LP I’ll have on repeat for a while now as there’s no one else quite like the Curst Sons, and after hearing their previous album to death for similar reasons it’s great to have more Curst Sons to listen to.
