Nirvana - Live at Reading 1992 (DVD) - Email this album review Printable version
So here it is, at last, Nirvana’s greatest British performance, the legendary only British festival appearance by THE band of the eighties/nineties.
This is the gig that, like Bob Marley at the Lyceum or The Beatles on the roof in Saville Row or the Pistols at the Marquee that if everyone who claimed to have been there had actually been there would have been the biggest gig of all time.
And incredibly it is actually a great performance and a superb recording of it – now that I wasn’t expecting!

All the Nirvana greats are there: 'Aneurysm’, a stunning 'Come As You Are’, 'Lithium’ with 80,000 voices singing the entire song, the punk like 'Tourettes’ and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit’.

Nirvana even get the opportunity to show the lighter side with some deliberate errors and stutters and their rapport with the crowd comes over better than legend may have had it.

As with a lot of classic re-releases the music is so well known that you don’t need to be told about it but I can report that the sound is great, the performances are fine and an awful lot of the 'Legendary’ stsus that this gig has accrued is well worth it.

If you are already a Nirvana lover then you need this and if you want a good introduction to the band then this is a pretty good place to start.
