Singer Sam Smith is feeling intense pressure as his Spectre theme tune is released.
Today (25Sept15) fans will finally be able to listen to the 23-year-old’s track Writing’s on the Wall, which will accompany the new Bond film’s release in October (15).
But while it’s one of the most amazing moments of his career, Sam is quaking in his boots.
“I’m s**tting myself. With this song I don’t care about it charting and things like that. I just care about doing the legacy proud,” he told Britain’s The Sun newspaper.

“The pressure to deliver a Bond song that stands against all the rest feels quite intense.”
Sam is known for his ballads and often sings about heartbreak. While he wanted the Bond theme to sound “strong” he and the film’s director Sam Mendes ensured his personality also shone through in the melancholic tune.
“I feel like my music can be very vulnerable and I wanted to have a touch of that with Bond and have him sounding more vulnerable than normal,” the singer explained.
“With all my music I try to make it honest and personal, like it’s a diary entry, and I’ve wanted to do that but in the shoes of someone else.
“With Bond songs you get to be as dramatic as you want. I got to get away with unbelievable string and brass sections — I got to be a drama queen.”
Spectre hits cinemas from October (15) and will be introduced with a royal premiere in the UK, the birthplace of Bond. Sam can’t wait to hit the red carpet and hopes he might even get a chance to speak to 007 himself – actor Daniel Craig.
“I think the whole world fancies Daniel Craig. I was never a proper Bond fan until I started watching the Daniel Craig movies. Since then I’ve backtracked and watched them all from the beginning,” he gushed.
“He’s my favourite Bond. He’s amazing. I haven’t spoken to him. I hope to meet him at the premiere.”
