Ed Sheeran 'has always had a crush on Cherry'

Ed Sheeran has apparently always had a spark with Cherry Seaborn.

The flame-haired singer and Cherry are thought to be dating and have been spotted out numerous times together over the last few weeks.

But his rumoured romance with the hockey player isn't completely out of the blue; the two were close friends while at school together in Suffolk, England.

"There was always something there between them. Ed had a crush on Cherry at school, but she had a boyfriend then. I don't think Ed wants to date another celebrity again, having been burned too many times, and Cherry is definitely his type," a source told British magazine Heat.

Cherry's mother Ann added: "I wouldn't like to say if they're dating. They don't tell parents these things, but they were very good school friends."

The pair certainly looked cosy last week when they partied with Calvin Harris in Las Vegas.

Since Ed split with Athina Andrelos earlier this year, his love life has been the subject of much speculation. Many believed he was romancing Nicole Scherzinger but the pair laughed it off, stating they were just good friends.

Ed's even admitted he's been too busy with work to think of love.

"My relationship ended and then the day after it ended I was in the Middle East, Asia, South America, New Zealand – I was just gone and in my mind I had no time to settle with it," he told Capital FM.

"So I was just working, working, working… I haven't really had time to sit back and re-evaluate personal life, because I don't really have a personal life."
