Demi Lovato's new track is a warning not to mess with her.

The 23-year-old has hit fans with new single Waiting For You, a feud song believed to be about her pop nemesis Miley Cyrus.

And the Cool For The Summer singer is keen to let people know she's no soft touch.

“This song shows a side of me I’ve never shown before, and that’s, ‘Don’t mess with me,'" she told British newspaper The Sun.

“Let’s just say not a lot of people try to pull that sh*t with me. But it’s gonna happen. When you get two singers who both have 30million fans it’s inevitable. It’s like high school. But I respect bad b***hes like Rihanna and Nicki Minaj."

Nicki has certainly had her own shared of pop beef, exchanging tense tweets with Taylor Swift before making up shortly after and moving on to Miley, who she publically called out at the MTV VMAs last month, claiming she'd been talking about her in the press.

Demi's problems with Miley meanwhile are thought to stem from the fact she fought to get clean from drugs, while Miley, 22, openly advocates them.

While she wouldn't confirm who Waiting For You is targeting, she was happy to embrace the speculation.

“I prefer to put my feelings into the song and let that say everything," she explained.

“I have been impulsive on Twitter before. We’re human. But if you want to write that this song’s about another pop star then go ahead.”

And she's not the only one to take that approach - Taylor released song Bad Blood earlier this year, with the lyrics rumoured to be aimed at Katy Perry.
