Louis Tomlinson’s father Troy Austin reportedly tried to take his own life.
The 23-year-old One Direction star and his 46-year-old dad are not speaking currently, with recent reports suggesting their relationship has been fractured for years.
And in light of news Louis is expecting his own child, it seems the pop star has even more family drama to deal with, as his father Troy supposedly attempted suicide.
According to British newspaper The Sun, Troy tried to gas himself to death in a car after binge drinking beer. After being arrested for suspicion of drunk driving, Louis’ dad apparently attempted to harm himself even more while at a police station in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. Troy was then taken to hospital for further treatment.
It’s claimed Troy, who left the pop singer’s mother when Louis was five years old, hasn’t spoken to his son in at least three years.
Sources tell The Sun the estranged patriarch feels alone in the world, as many of his loved ones have written him off.
“It’s tragic. He’s lost all of his friends. They’ve all disowned him. This isn’t about Louis,” an insider told the outlet.
“He is drinking heavily and a habitual dope smoker and that will mess with your mind.”
It’s claimed the tragedy began after Troy argued with his brother over a hotel they co-own.
Prosecutor Joanne Lewis-Crookes notes authorities became involved because people had a feeling Troy was about to self-destruct.
“He had been reported as a missing person and there were real concerns about his mental state and well-being,” the attorney noted.
“It is suspected he went off, having borrowed a friend’s car, to kill himself.”
Louis is currently expecting his first child with 23-year-old American based stylist Briana Jungwirth.
