Aretha Franklin is suffering from exhaustion.
The 73-year-old singer had been due to perform at The Colosseum at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace on Friday night – the latest in a string of concerts.
However, Aretha has apologised to fans after having to cancel the show following her lengthy journey from Detroit to the West Coast for the latest performance.
“I thank all of my fans, friends and supporters who bought tickets. I hope to see you all soon,” Aretha said in the statement.
The performance will be rescheduled.
Aretha has been kept busy in recent weeks with her hectic schedule, which has seen her perform concerts in California cities Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Oakland.
Her show in Oakland on Monday at the Oracle Arena marked her return to the Bay area for the first time in close to 40 years.
During the show, an emotional Aretha thanked fans for their support as she continued to wow crowds with her stellar talent.
"I just want to say what a treat it's been for me to come back to Oakland after all these years," Franklin told the audience. "What a wonderful time we had tonight."
It remains to be seen whether or not Aretha will be able to overcome her exhaustion to perform at her next scheduled concert in her childhood hometown of Detroit on August 22.
Aretha released her latest album, Aretha Sings the Great Diva Classics, back in October 2014.
The record includes covers of tracks by stars including Alicia Keys, Adele and Etta James.
"I absolutely loved doing it,” Aretha told Billboard.com of laying down the album. “I had a real ball. I had a good time.”
