Mick Jagger is working once again with Martin Scorsese on a TV series about a New York record industry executive in the 70s. The series has been titled ‘Vinyl’.
The series is six episodes into production. “Popped by the set of our @HBO series in Brooklyn. All going well. Working on episode 6 now!,” Jagger posted this week on Twitter.
‘Vinyl’ will star Boardwalk Empire star Bobby Cannavale as record boss Richie Finestra of fictitious American Century Records.
Jagger’s son James will star as punk rock singer Kip Stevens of the band Nasty Bits. Ray Romano is promo guy Zak Yankovic and Andrew ‘Dice’ Clay will play the own of a radio network.
Scorsese has directed episode one of the eight part series.
Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger previously worked on The Rolling Stones 2006 documentary ‘Shine A Light’. The documentary captured The Stones in intimate mode in New York’s Beacon Theatre. President Bill Clinton attended the show.
The event was marked by tragedy. 83-year old Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun tripped and fell hitting his head on the concrete floor backstage at the show. He went into a coma and died six weeks later.
Jagger’s last production was the James Brown biopic ‘Get On Up’.
