Demi Lovato’s dog Buddy was ripped apart by a coyote, according to reports.

The singer revealed on Tuesday that her beloved pooch had died in a tragic accident. TMZ reported on Wednesday that the pet was attacked by a wild coyote that had wandered into the 22-year-old’s back yard.

The outlet added that Demi was the one to make the gruesome discovery and was so distraught that she cancelled her scheduled appearance on Good Morning America on Thursday.

The Skyscraper singer shared Buddy with her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama after welcoming the canine into their family at the end of 2014.

The couple are struggling to come to terms with their loss, as Demi outlined in a post on her Twitter account via TwitLonger.

“We are absolutely heartbroken to be writing this but Wilmer and I are devastated to inform you that we lost our little angel Buddy last Sunday,” she shared about the adorable little white dog. “He was taken from us way too soon in a tragic accident and though I will never know why this had to happen, I do know that God only puts us through situations that we can handle so with that, together we our staying strong. (sic)”

The pair have been supported by their close family and friends, but are still very raw after such a traumatic event.

“We will never forget our baby boy Buddy and his gentle loving spirit will live on in our hearts forever," she continued. "RIP my tiniest little nightingale, Buddy… ‘I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be...’(sic).”
