Mercury Award nominee Laura Mvula launched a three-week programme of free piano lessons in St Pancras International with an impromptu performance on one of the station’s resident pianos.

In partnership with charity Youth Music, of which Laura is an Ambassador, the Play @ St Pancras programme is hoping to raise vital funds to support the charity’s aim of ensuring every child has access to music-making opportunities, regardless of background or circumstances. Supporters can donate £5 by sending a text message with the code YMUS15 to 70070 or by visiting their donation page.

The free piano lessons will be available between 11.00-14.00 from 23rd July - 12th August 2015 on all of the station’s three resident pianos. What’s more, St Pancras and Youth Music will be encouraging friends and family to make melodies together with the installation of a giant floor piano during opening weekend and an array of other pop-up musical performances.

Three-time BRIT Award nominee, Laura Mvula, said: “Having been involved in Youth Music initiatives as a teenager myself, I have seen first-hand how giving young people access to creative outlets like making music can positively impact their lives. When I was taking my first piano lesson at the age of 8 I never imagined that I would one day be an Ambassador for such an important charity. It’s a real joy to launch Play @ St Pancras which I hope will encourage lots of people to take part and have fun as well as raising vital funds.”

Location: St Pancras International, Euston Road, London, N1C 4QP
