Michael Black, vocalist for Black Oil has announced that he is now the permanent singer for the international metal band, Taipan.

Black Oil, known for three albums, including the most recent release, "Resist To Exist” (2015 Sliptrick Records) decided to part ways with Michael Black in June, 2015.

“I want to thank the many fans and past members of Black Oil for 8 amazing years of performing together and playing for truly amazing audiences, " said Michael Black in a recent interview. "I appreciate the time I shared the stage with Black Oil and wish each member the best of luck.”

Michael Black has fronted the band for the past 8 years and has been active in writing songs for all three Black Oil albums. His label, Dead Sea Records, produced the first release, "Join The Revolution." During his tenure with the band, Michael Black has had the opportunity to share the stage with major acts (Slipknot, Slayer, Soulfly, Anthrax, Motorhead, Suicidal Tendencies, Arch Enemy, Voivod, Megadeth, Fear Factory, etc.) and travel throughout the world. Most recently, Black has been seen with Black Oil in the video “Callate, " featuring Tony Campos (Soulfly, Taipan, Fear Factory) and Aaron Rossi (Ministry, Taipan, Ankla). Two new music videos for the songs, "Revolution" and "Combustion" also include Black, but are yet to be released.

Michael Black has held an active position outside the band, including the publication of the book “Falling Forward: Life in A Metal Band” which chronicles some of his time as lead singer of Black Oil. Black has also devoted time to leading Dead Sea Records, an indie label that hosts bands from Southern California and beyond. Taipan recently signed with Dead Sea Records and their video release of the song“Straight From The Underground” has gained 27,000 views in the first month.

“I am now officially the permanent vocalist for Taipan and look forward to a long, strong career with this powerful band that has come out of the starting gates at a full gallop," says Black.
