Phil Rudd has been sentenced to eight months of home detention.
The 61-year-old AC/DC drummer was arrested for attempting to arrange a murder last November. The charge was later dropped and replaced with threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis, crimes Rudd pled guilty to in April.
According to news.com.au, Rudd received an eight-month house arrest sentence in court on Thursday. He must also complete a rehabilitation programme and after the eight months of house arrest concludes, the star will be on probation for six months. Should he violate his home detention, Rudd will have to go to jail.
TVNZ One News reports Judge Thomas Ingram told Rudd there "was nowhere to hide" should he take drugs under house arrest, as his every move will be electronically monitored.
During an interview in May, Rudd claimed his AC/DC bandmates abandoned him in the wake of his latest legal scandal.
“You know who your friends are don’t you,” he told A Current Affair in May.
“I tried to get in contact with Angus, with anybody, I wrote them a letter and I’ve had no contact at all. I’m very disappointed ... But you know, that’s life.
“I’ve seen the error of my ways and it’s onward and upward from here.”
Angus Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams and Stevie Young are the current members of the hit rock band, and the stars previously said they feel “sad” about what’s going on with their friend.
“He has got himself into some sort of situation and he’s got to get himself out of it,” Cliff told British newspaper The Sun. “He didn’t show up for the video we were filming [for Rock or Bust and Play Ball] so our friend Bob Richards stood in. But we want to move forward. Phil needs to get himself right. It is going to take time.”
