Nicki Minaj can’t believe how “frazzled and crazy-looking” she was during her acceptance speech at the BET Awards.

The Anaconda singer received two awards on Sunday night, Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award for her track Only. But it was during her acceptance speech for the latter that the 32-year-old raised eyebrows when the star asked what she had received the gong for.

“I was on my way to go because I have to go somewhere," she explained to ET Online. "So I was trying to get myself all together and then they're like, 'No, you gotta go, you're winning an award,' and I'm like, 'What the hell,' then I had to go up ... I was all, you know, frazzled and crazy-looking on stage but hey, it's live TV."

Her first speech of the night also came in for questioning. Many people thought she was making a dig at either her long term rival Lil Kim or ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels when she spoke of going after your own dreams and only blaming yourself if they don’t come true. But Nicki seemed to clarify that it was about people in general needing to be go-getters, rather than someone she actually knows.

“I just want people to chase their dreams," she stressed. "You know, sometimes we wait so long, for such a long time to like, figure it out in life, and then one day, you know, you are angry and bitter but your time is now. Figure it out. Get out of the bed and let's go!"
