Rita Ora knows she can't have her candid cake and eat it.
The platinum blonde singer never seems to be far from the spotlight, whether it's thanks to her music, budding acting career or love life.
Rita is candid by nature so is happy to discuss her private life, but this frank approach makes it even harder when she sees lies written about her. However, she's learnt to swallow it.
"You can’t have your cake and eat it. You have to take it on the chin. But when the majority of the time things that are said aren’t true, it gets very hard to always have to explain myself. I just try to keep my reputation as honest and clean as possible," she admitted to ES Magazine.
As an example, she uses her breakup from superstar DJ Calvin Harris. The pair had openly gushed about each other in the press and collaborated on track I Will Never Let You Down, so it was a shock when they split last year.
"It was a period of my life that I will value forever. But some things are just not meant to be. I don’t want to make this just about him. Musically, it was an amazing experiment and let’s just leave it at that.
"I would rather [the split] had been private. But I’m not private and nor is my job," she added.
Around the same time, Rita also got to a point where she felt some of her friendships weren't as true as she'd thought.
This led to her penning song Poison, which she admits is about being backstabbed.
"Yeah. But I’m not going to blurt it out. I have my own therapist that I talk to. I’ve stopped pretending that I’m this constantly happy person. I never tell people how I feel, my friends literally have to force it out of me," she revealed.
The 24-year-old thinks of herself as a girl's girl and says she never has a jealousy vibe, even when it comes to Calvin's new girlfriend Taylor Swift.
She also wishes "nothing but the best" for her former best friend Cara Delevingne, and says she's a "huge fan" of ex-boyfriend Rob Kardashian's family.
