Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell will be returning to the band’s tour with Styx and Tesla this Saturday night after missing just a few shows.

As Campbell writes on his Facebook page, he thought that the return of his Hodgkin’s Lymphoma would mean a new course of radiation, but his doctors have found a different treatment that he can use and still tour with the band.

The Leppard/Styx/Tesla tour opens tonight in Tampa, FL and will also play West Palm Beach on Thursday before Campbell returns Saturday in Birmingham, AL. The tour goes through October 4 when Foreigner steps in for Styx until October 17.

Campbell’s statement:

So, so happy to report that I’ve dodged the bullet of radiation. I was due to start a course that would have sidelined me for most of the first leg of the US tour, but my brilliant doctors have steered me towards an alternative course of treatment that will enable me to rejoin the tour this Saturday night in Birmingham Alabama. Furthermore, they’ve tailored future treatments to accommodate the tour schedule so I won’t have to miss any more shows.

I’m so happy and so indebted to the wonderful physicians who have worked so hard on my behalf to make this happen.

See you Saturday!
