Carly Rae Jepsen is singing about all of her exes in her music.
The pop star is known for her catchy tracks, which include her latest single I Really Like You. She often pens lyrics about love and relationships, but she doesn't want any particular person to feel they're being referenced.
"No, all my exes should feel that my songs are about them!" she assured the German edition of Glamour magazine.
In the video that accompanies the latest tune, Tom Hanks takes the starring role. It was actually her manager Scooter Braun that made the cameo a possibility.
"He's friends with my manager, heard the song and wanted to be a part of it," she revealed.
"We had a choreographer, who wanted to show us complicated routines, but he just laughed and said, 'Surely not, we'll just dance however we want!'"
Carly hit the pop scene in 2011, when her hit Call Me Maybe took over the charts. It all came very suddenly, but the 29-year-old is glad she was already fairly mature when fame struck.
"I was in my mid 20s and able to cope with it quite well," she reasoned. "But it is pretty surreal when you're sat in a restaurant and people start taking pictures of you."
But where does Carly manage to find inspiration for all these hit tracks?
"I get ideas in the middle of the night and I normally stumble around in the dark for my phone and record them," she recently smiled to British magazine Very.
"The other place is aeroplanes, which can be awkward. I can come up with a melody that I need to get down before I forget it, but the only way to record it is to grab your iPhone and go and sing in the toilet. It happened to me on a flight recently. The people next to me must have thought I had the smallest bladder in the world because I kept disappearing to the toilet to record this song."
