Jason Derulo is invited to the White House surprisingly often.

The 25-year-old singer's latest record Everything Is 4 includes appearances by a number of major stars, among them Meghan Trainor, Jennifer Lopez and Stevie Wonder. Getting Stevie on board was a surprisingly easy task, as the pair met while at the home of US President Barack Obama.

"We were having a dinner at the White House... it happens quite often actually, it's really nice there. I think I've been there about seven or eight times. Yeah. I think they like me man. You can come with me, I'll grab a plus one," he laughed to BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw. "We're getting to talking and I'm like in my mind, 'I got this song with a harmonica on it and it'd be crazy if I got Stevie on it.' So I'm like, 'Stevie, would you like to play harmonica on one of my songs?' And he was like, 'Of course man, you're family.' So I was like, 'This is going well, I can maybe push a little more.' So I said, 'Would you like to sing on the song too?' And he was like, 'Put it like this, if I hear the song on the radio and I'm not on it, I'm gonna whoop your [beep]."

Jason began working on Everything Is 4 when he was on the road, often going straight from the stage to the studio. He believes that is evident in the music he produced, as the record is full of catchy floor fillers such as the lead single Want to Want Me.

He's proud of every track on the LP, which is good in some ways but makes it hard to select which should be singles. That's why Jason has come up with a novel way to pick the next release.

"I've been with my manager since I was 12 years old and we've kinda built this whole thing together, his name is Frank Harris. He is the person that I trust the most. We go through so much trying to decide what song is the perfect song for the perfect time," he explained. "We're just having the hardest time again on choosing the second single, so if you have any ideas, let me know what you think the second single should be because I have no idea. I even considered flipping a coin and then I was like, what are you doing?"
