Blues legend B.B. King has been farewelled by family and friend at a memorial service in Las Vegas.

10 of King’s 35 grandchildren and eight of his 11 surviving children attended the service in Las Vegas.

King’s daughter Landra Williams spoke at the service saying, “”To everyone else, he was a legend but for us, he was love,” she addressed the crowd. She said that he called every female in his family “pretty girl”.

Richie Sambora and Carlos Santana attended the Las Vegas service. “Buddy Guy and B.B. let me into the blues,” Sambora told the Associated Press. “That’s why I’m here. He made me family.”

The body of B.B. King will be now taken Memphis for a funeral procession and then to his birthplace Indianola for burial.

According to a family statement at bbking.com, B.B. was fond of saying that education is something no one can take away from you, and there is a vast population of under-served children in our area who need the message of hope. We take that to heart and have many programs in place, but we need ongoing support to keep those viable and continue to add engaging and inspirational messages. Your donation can help us with resources to reach as many young people as possible. The B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center is a 501©(3) non-profit organization, so your contributions are tax-deductible”.
