The biopic of George Jones has a script and is about to be cast.
Jones, who died in 2013, had one of the wildest life stories out of all of country music. His legacy includes some of country’s greatest songs such as White Lightning, She Thinks I Still Care, Good Year For the Roses, The Grand Tour and He Stopped Loving Her Today, but also some of its greatest stories from his hard drinking to his tumultuous relationship with Tammy Wynette.
The movie, No Show Jones, is named after one of the many nicknames he picked up over the years, this one based on his penchant to just not show up for scheduled shows. It will reportedly cover his life from his start in country in the late-1950’s through his addictions and marriage to Wynette in the 70’s.
The movie was written by Alan Wenkus who also penned the upcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. He gained unprecedented access to the Jones estate and worked closely with his widow, Nancy Jones, who is also an executive producer.
No Show Jones is being produced by 28 Entertainment by Brian A. Hoffman and Dennis Baxter who wrote the original script for the movie.
