Ride have today announced that they are to play an exclusive live broadcast session for legendary DJ and long-time fan Steve Lamacq on his BBC 6 Music show on Wednesday 20th May, ahead of their highly anticipated UK headline shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London later that week.
The session will take place at the legendary Maida Vale Studios, and the recently reunited quartet will perform an hour’s worth of material from their critically acclaimed and globally celebrated career at this special and intimate gig.
Registration for tickets to the show is open now on the Steve Lamacq show, and fans have until 7pm tomorrow (Tuesday 12th May) to register on the BBC
website.
Ride have a long history with Maida Vale, having recorded four sessions at the studio in the ‘90s. Two sessions with John Peel were recorded; the first on Steve’s birthday on 4th February 1990, which followed a headline show at the Oxford Co-op Hall the night before (the venue is now the O2 Academy2).
Another two sessions were recorded with Mark Goodier, who was Steve Lamacq’s Radio 1 Evening Session predecessor. The second session was taped ahead of the Daytripper co-headline shows with The Charlatans in March ’93 and was the first airing for songs that then appeared on the Carnival of Light album the following year.
