Album chart dominating British country superstars The Shires have announced details of their debut guest performance on US county music institution the Grand Ole Opry.

Marking a significant moment in British country music, The Shires will perform as guest artists on county music's most important institution: The Grand Ole Opry, on 6 June 2015. The "Opry" is a country music concert and radio show staged in Nashville, which has presented the biggest stars in country music since it was founded in 1925. A performance on the Grand Ole Opry is considered to be the mark of success in the country music scene, with The Shires joining the likes of country music legends: Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban who have performed on the show.

The Shires watched their first concert at the venue last year when they were in Nashville working on their debut album Brave. Ben Earle recently told The Independent, “Entering the Opry is like going to church. It’s almost a sacred experience and you have the whole history of country music lining the walls. It’s the pinnacle of country and the longest running radio show in the world. We never imagined we would be on the stage a year later.”
