Faith No More will have nothing to do with their former record company’s decision to reissue their back catalogue.
The band posted a message on their Facebook page explaining that they are not involved with the upcoming reissues of their albums Angel Dust and Real Thing, presumably as a precaution in case the quality is not good; however, they also are not trying to get in the record company’s way or trying to undermine the release.
Most of you have probably heard news about upcoming Angel Dust and Real Thing reissues, and the latest statements seem imply that these are band sponsored releases. In fact, they are Warners/Rhino re-issues (who still own the license to them). This is not to say that they are not worth getting…it’s just that they are not coming from us. Hope that makes sense. The Real Thing was Faith No More’s third album. Released in 1989, the set was named album of the year by Kerrang! magazine and went to number 2 in Australia and 11 in the U.S. The single Epic became the group’s only top ten hit, reaching number 9.
Angel Dust (1992) was their fourth release and was, once again, named top album by Kerrang! along with Germany’s Musik Express Sounds. The album peaked at number 2 in England and 10 in the U.S. (their highest charting album) and contained the Modern Rock chart topper Midlife Crisis.
