Gillian Anderson apparently has the hots for Chris Martin.
The X-Files actress and Chris have known each other for years, and sources reveal Gillian has always been fond of the singer.
Now his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow has been finalised, it seems Gillian is ready to take the friendship further. She has reportedly even asked him out on a date.
"They’re an unlikely combination but there’s definitely chemistry between them," an insider told British newspaper The Sun.
“Chris has always been keen to keep his personal life private so, as expected, the blossoming romance is very low-key. His pals are intrigued to see if it turns into a bigger deal."
News of Chris and Gwyneth's divorce came through earlier this week, a year after they announced they were 'consciously uncoupling' after more than ten years of marriage.
The news of a possible Gillian romance will come as a surprise to fans, as it was believed the Coldplay frontman had been romancing Hollywood's golden girl Jennifer Lawrence.
The pair first sparked rumours of a romance last summer, and seemingly went public with their union at Harry Styles' 21st birthday in February.
Gillian, 46, has been married twice and previously admitted she's not interested in younger men, which may be a problem for Chris, who is eight years her junior.
"To me, a married man is simply a no go. I’m not interested in younger men either.
“I suppose I might ask a man out, but I believe at this stage of my life it’s better not to manipulate the situation. If it happens, it happens. What I am sure about is that I want my next relationship to be ‘The One’," she said.
