Florence Welch has broken her foot after jumping off the stage at Coachella.

The lead singer of Florence + the Machine took to Instagram on Tuesday, posting a scan of her injured foot along with a heartfelt message to fans apologising for having to “strip back” her upcoming performances as she recovers.

The 28-year-old revealed that the break occurred after she got so into “one of my favourite shows ever at Coachella” she decided to leap barefoot off the stage.

“I'm so sorry to say, that after what was one of my favourite shows ever at Coachella, I have discovered I have broken my foot from leaping off the stage,” she began.

“Unfortunately while this heals, my performances will have to be somewhat stripped back. I'm so sorry, I'm pretty devastated, but I still want to do the shows. I understand this is not what you were expecting, but I hope its just as enjoyable. I'm going to try and make it super special for you (sic).”

The star is currently touring with the new album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. And while fortunately she didn’t have to cancel any shows in the wake of her accident, she revealed her hopes that by paring back her upcoming performances, while not ideal, “by the time Glastonbury rolls around I should be back on my feet” come June.

“This album was so much about making something from what was broken, so lets see what we can do with this (sic),” she added.
