Meghan Trainor doesn’t think the music video for Dear Future Husband was “sexist” at all.

Last month the 21-year-old singer released the single’s accompanying video, which features her taking on a 1950s housewife persona by scrubbing floors on her knees and performing other domestic duties.

Several viewers criticised the Dear Future Husband promo, calling it anti-feminist, but Meghan complete disagrees with that assessment.

“Just surprised the random places people are asking me if I was being sexist,” she told MTV News. “But no, I don’t believe I was. I think I was just writing my song to my future husband out there, wherever he is. He’s chilling right now, taking a minute getting ready for me; it’s going to be great.”

All About That Bass hitmaker Meghan is currently performing shows on her That Bass Tour.

And although she’s occupied with putting on concerts, the songstress is hoping to get into the studio to record new songs for her forthcoming album very soon.

“I haven’t officially started, but I’ve got a few tunes from the back pile. My old music, I’m just going to bring it up, redo it; I’m getting excited,” Meghan gushed.

“So far I’ve been on the road and I got a lot of great people reaching out to us saying, ‘We want to write with her for her next album,’ but I’m gone, I’m overseas. When I come back, though, wait for me.”

Meghan’s That Bass Tour sees her performing 33 shows in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania up until the final gig in Milan, Italy on June 4.

She will then go on to perform 29 concerts across the United States and Canada on her The MTrain Tour between early July and September 6. The MTrain Tour kicks off in Atlantic City, New Jersey over Independence Day weekend on July 3.
