Nick Cannon insists that every day starts with his children.

The 34-year-old presenter is father to three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with estranged wife Mariah Carey.

And while Nick’s relationship with Mariah has come to an end, the America’s Got Talent host insists he will always put his children first in his life.

"Family is the number one priority," he told E! News. "It's always making sure that you make that connection first."

"Just even where I move or the places where my days start has to be starting with the kids first."

Being twins, Moroccan and Monroe have always done everything together. But as they approach their fourth birthday next month, Nick says the pair are starting to develop their own individual identities.

"Dem kids, dem damn kids," Nick added. "They put two D's on it. Don't worry, they aren't driving daddy crazy at all. Instead, they're gaining their own point of view that shows how creative they already are.”

As they start to develop into their own little personalities, Moroccan and Monroe will soon be in their own rooms.

And when it comes to decking out their rooms, the pair have very definite ideas on styling.

"I'm loving their independence," he said. "We've been doing some shopping lately and picking out what kind of bed they wanted and their own drapes and they're like designing their own rooms."

"Up until this point, they've kind of shared rooms and now they're kind of individuals. It's watching that individuality come out. It's really cool."
