Kelly Clarkson is bored of celebrity mothers pretending they don't have help with their kids.

The American star gave birth to her first child, daughter River Rose, last June. She's also step-mother to her husband Brandon Blackstock's two children from a previous relationship.

Instead of claiming she single-handedly looks after her tot, Kelly is refreshingly honest about her home life.

"Well I'm not going to lie and be like one of those... I always see famous people being like, 'No, it's not hard at all.' Well that's because we have nannies people!" Kelly pointed out to the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show. "I'm not going to lie, because I grew up in a family where my mom raised three children by herself.

"You know, I'm rocking a very comforted situation. And I'm happy for that because I'm able to do both. Don't you just hate... I know moms out there just want to like slap celebrities when they're like, 'Oh no it's just so easy, I do everything myself.' I'm like, 'No you don't. Where's your kid right now? Whos watching them right now?'"

Kelly is busy promoting her latest record Piece by Piece, which is released later this month.

As the album is yet to drop, Kelly was absent from this year's Grammy Awards as she felt she had nothing new to show at the lavish awards show. She did tune in though, and kept her Twitter follows amused with her running commentary.

The 32-year-old found Kanye West storming the stage when Beck won album of the year particularly funny.

"Well I thought he was joking! It came out that he wasn't joking, again! I think he might be the worst at self-sabotaging himself. [I thought he was joking] that's why I tweeted it and all of a sudden my assistant sent me this interview he did afterwards, like 'Just so you know, I don't think he was kidding,'" she giggled.

Kanye thought Beyoncé Knowles deserved the accolade, which echoed his past awards rant when Taylor Swift beat the Crazy in Love singer to best female video at the 2009 MTV VMAs.

"My stylist said it best... he's this sheriff of justice for Beyoncé. Because I love that Jay Z is probably like, 'I've got this. You don't have to keep defending her'," Kelly laughed.
