Mark Ronson thinks "uptown" sounds far more glamorous than "downtown".
The 39-year-old star has made a huge comback with single Uptown Funk, which features Bruno Mars.
His album Uptown Special was also released last month and the star has revealed why he felt inspired by the title.
"I just think uptown sounds more glamorous," he mused when quizzed by German magazine Joy.
"I grew up in Downtown and that's just not exciting to me."
The record marks a momentous occasion for Mark - he got to work with musical legend Stevie Wonder. He stars in tracks Uptown's First Finale and Crack in the Pearl, Pt. II.
Also joining him on the album are rappers A$AP Rocky and Mystikal.
"My musical beginnings in New York," he revealed when asked what the record was inspired by.
"It has a bit of hip-hop, funk, soul and R&B - everything at once!"
Mark was close to Amy Winehouse, who tragically passed away in 2011, aged 27. Recently he disclosed Uptown Special is in memory of her.
“For some reason, the dedication section was left off my album printing. I'm sure they'll fix it for the future, but for public record… This album is dedicated to the memory of Teenie Hodges and DJ Mehdi,” he wrote on a piece of paper which he then photographed and uploaded to his Instagram account. “And to Amy Winehouse – although I wish you were still here, I'm always thinking of you, inspired by you and your music lives on in myself and everyone who ever felt it. Love, Mark.”
