The Backstreet Boys have finally found "balance" in their lives, according to Howie D.
The 41-year-old star is one fifth of the hit boyband, also made up of A. J. McLean, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell, who rose to fame with hit singles such as We've Got It Goin' On and I Want It That Way.
More than 20 years after forming, the group are set to release a new documentary called Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of, which follows the recording of their 2013 album In a World Like This and preparing for their coinciding tour.
Other areas explored in the film are more personal, including Kevin - who left the group in 2006 and returned six years later - recalling his father's terminal cancer.
Looking at where they are today, Howie can see a big development in their relationship.
"It’s definitely evolved. I mean, we all started off as young lads, so wet behind the ears, not knowing what was going on or how to do things, to all five of us now, believe it or not, are married. Four of us have kids. I think we’ve found a balance now," he told PopCrush.
"Work hard, but also [have] time at home to play hard, with our families, with our kids as well. When we’re on the road working hard with each other, also have play time with each other, just get to always appreciate each other and what we like to do and what we’ve come here to do."
When asked to sum the documentary up in three words, Howie was caught off guard, but went for compelling, educational and heartfelt.
The men give off a strong sense of brotherhood throughout; an aspect the singer is pleased stands out to the audience.
"I think we have a special bond. It’s definitely like a brotherhood. Like a family. Like a marriage almost to a point. We’ve been together for almost 22 years," he explained. "We’ve seen a lot. We’ve seen a lot of good in each other. We’ve seen a lot of bad. We love each other like brothers; we also fight like brothers."
