Liam Payne wants to become "a humanitarian".

The One Direction member has made a fortune thanks to his work with bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan.

Now they've made it, the 21-year-old wonders whether he could use his fame for something positive.

"I don't ever claim to be a good person I'm not," he clarified in a long post on Twitter.

"But I feel that I wanna be a humanitarian with all of this attention, if that's all i do that would make me happy. (sic)"

The star urged everyone to get together and make a change, stating the world is a "pretty messed up place". He added that while he doesn't understand much of the issues affecting people, he does know they hurt him "entirely".

"I've been around the world the past four years of my life and nothing is balanced, I've been a poor man and a rich man, I've been to strange lands and third world countries and afraid to speak out but now I really see all of us should speak out and topple the imbalance," he continued.

"If you can today google charity overseas, give to a third world country and help them grow I've been there to Ghana they don't have anything they can't buy food from the groceries or McDonald's they have to get food by any mean necessary. (sic)"

He finished his inspirational message by encouraging his fans to donate to a charity right now. It seems his words got through, as followers immediately had #HelpLiamChangeTheWorld trending on Twitter.

One Direction have been involved with plenty of charitable ventures in the past, including lending their vocals to Sir Bob Geldof's Band Aid 30 effort last year.
