Gwen Stefani thinks Pharrell Williams is blessed with an ability to “channel feeling”.

The longtime friends and collaborators recently penned the theme song for family film Paddington, which is entitled Shine.

Gwen admits the pair had a bit of a mental block during the creative process, but eventually her three children with husband Gavin Rossdale sided with Pharrell’s instincts on where to go with the song.

“He was very specific about the lyrics — he wanted them to be like, ‘bear, Paddington, station’ and I wanted it to be a little more abstract,” she shared with MTV News. “[Children] have special ears that hear things that are good.

“At the end of the day we screened the movie at my house with the kids and watched the whole thing and the song came on and he was so right. He had such a great instinct for these things. He has a way of really channeling feeling.”

The 45-year-old No Doubt frontwoman recently gushed over what a pillar of support Pharrell has been for her over the years.
The musical peers were co-panellists on TV singing competition The Voice US last season and Gwen joked Pharrell’s been serving as her mentor for a great part of her nearly 30-year career.

“He’s like, been coaching me along in my life,” she laughed in an interview with Access Hollywood previously. “He’s like a life coach! It’s been really amazing to be next to him and around him. He’s really motivating and inspiring. I could just keep going!”
