Lady Gaga has thanked TV show Girls for calling her a "bad b***h".

The musician has had a career resurgence late last year, switching her usual pop songs for a jazz sound with the help of Tony Bennett.

Her efforts haven't gone unnoticed and popular HBO show Girls, created by and starring Lena Dunham, decided to give a special mention to the singer.

"What do Judy Garland and Lady Gaga have in common?..they’re both bad b***hes who don’t give a f**k what people think.” - thanku @girlsHBO ! (sic)," Gaga tweeted to her followers.

It's not just Lena who is inspired by the 28-year-old star. Gaga calls her fans her "little monsters" and posted a picture of one follower who has covered his body in tattoos dedicated to her.

"I love this monsterf**ker. Check out his killer gaga tattoos. So many beautiful moments, &applause over his heart. (sic)," she thanked him.

In the snap she poses next to the fan with his shirt off to proudly show his body art.

It's an exciting time for Gaga, who has been booked to headline the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival with Tony in April. The Who and Sir Elton John have also been booked for the musical event.

The star recently took to Instagram to share her love of music.

"Song after song after song. I could write for hundreds of years in a passionate romance with music. But what a torturous exercise, to be great at making noise you must also master silence. (sic)," she wrote.
