A key member of the legendary James Brown great funk band in the 60’s, saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis arranged and co-wrote many masterful and much-loved hits that include Say it Loud – I’m Black and Proud, Cold Sweat and the much sampled In the Middle.

He brought that infamous jazzy sophistication to Brown’s fearsome grooves and later re-grouped with fellow Brown funksters Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker to from The JB Horns recording albums that defined the sound of jazz funk. He has worked as an arranger and Musial Director for CTI Records and collaborated with the likes of George Benson, Hank Crawford, Dave Liebman, Van Morrison and most recently Ginger Baker. With over 50 years in the business, Ellis is still a formidable entertainer performing with his own group, The Pee Wee Ellis Assembly, with whom he performs for two special nights at Ronnie Scott’s.

Joining Pee Wee as special guest on vocals and guitar on Saturday 7th is rock 'n' roll Renaissance Man, Huey Morgan. Frontman of Brooklyn's own ‘Fun Lovin' Criminals' and one of Britain's best-loved Radio DJs, Morgan has become a charismatic presence across the UK's cultural spectrum; much loved for his impossibly eclectic Sony-award-winning The Huey Show on BBC 6Music and BBC Radio 2’s Huey After Midnight . Combining rock, hip hop, jazz and funk influences in his music, this very special collaboration will no doubt produce a night of funky grooves and old- fashioned R&B as only the great funk masters can deliver.
