Sting's floundering Broadway musical, The Last Ship, may not be totally sinking after all.

With Sting joining the cast for a multi-week run, the show took in $817,897, its biggest week since opening by almost $300,000. Still, this is far short of the potential gross for the show which is $1,243,260 per week if it were to be a full sell out at all performances.

The Last Ship has been open for 11 weeks, including previews, and has grossed $6,037,132 on a potential of $13,116,325. Estimates are that the show must gross $625,000 per weeks to break even and, so far, it is only averaging $548,830.

Sting is with the show through January 10 but what happens at that point is anyone's guess. Without Sting or the surging holiday audiences, The Last Ship may return to its very troubling state.
