Nicole Kidman's marriage to Keith Urban was spontaneous.

The redheaded actress and her music star beau tied the knot in 2006 after apparently dating for less than a month.

They'd met the previous year, but it took Keith a while to ask Nicole out. However, once they went on a date, sparks flew instantly.

"I'm spontaneous. I jump in. I kind of like getting married and then getting to know each other; I know that it sounds incredibly strange, but to me, it's a more natural process," Nicole smiled to the American edition of Elle magazine.

Over seven years later the couple are still blissfully happy and have daughters Sunday and Faith together.

Nicole, 47, also has adopted children Isabella and Connor with ex-husband Tom Cruise, and says she still yearns for more offspring.

"I had my last one at 43. My grandmother had her last at 49. Every month, I’m like, ‘I hope I’m pregnant!’" she laughed.

Nicole is Elle's cover star, and looks stunning in a white Calvin Klein slip dress. In an alternate cover she rocks a pair of Dior shorts underneath a long coat.

The glossy publication also spoke to Nicole's close friend Sheryl Crow, who revealed Nicole is not the cold and aloof star she's sometimes made out to be.

"I think that she has been very poised throughout her public life, and sometimes people will misconstrue that; they see her as being an ice queen," Sheryl said.

"The kind of scrutiny she's been subjected to can't be comfortable, and she's dealt with it by being very careful - that's what gives people the wrong idea. She's not someone we're going to see out paddle-boarding in a G-string; she doesn't set up situations where she's playing to the paparazzi. She's more old-school than that. She's not that kind of movie star."
