Chris Rock is convinced Janet Jackson wants to “scratch his eyes out”.

The Control songstress performed with Justin Timberlake at the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show in 2004 and during the concert her nipple popped out of the costume, which sparked controversy.

Comedian Chris made a joke about Janet’s nipple incident shortly after it occurred, and now the funnyman wishes he didn’t venture there.

"I remember when Janet Jackson [had that wardrobe malfunction] at the Super Bowl. I told a joke like 'You can't just whip out a 40-year-old t**!' Now, anytime I see Janet Jackson to this day she looks at me like she's ready to scratch my eyes out!" he told People magazine.

But in hindsight, Chris thinks it may be a good thing he made that joke.

The star believes he just did what he’s paid for.

"I had to do it,” he smiled. "It's my job. I can't take the joke back, but man it would be nice for Janet Jackson to like me. God bless her, I wish her well."

Chris admits it is difficult at times to come to terms with his enemies.

However, he thinks social backlash is part of his job as a comedian.

"It does suck sometimes," Chris said of upsetting people with his jokes. "If you had told me when I was a kid that Charlene from Diff'rent Strokes isn't going to like me I would have thought you were crazy!"

Chris will release his new film Top Five in US theatres on December 12. The comedy, which stars Rosario Dawson, Jerry Seinfeld and Gabrielle Union, had its premiere at New York City’s Ziegfeld Theater this week.
