One Direction are apparently worried Zayn Malik is becoming "detached".

The singer has been in the media spotlight recently after missing part of the band's promotional duties due to ill health and allegations he has a drug problem, which were denied.

Zayn, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan will embark on their On the Road Again Tour next year and the other members are reportedly concerned about the growing rift.

"The boys are apparently frustrated as Zayn is becoming more detached from them," an insider explained to British magazine Star.

"With more than 50 tour dates lined up next year, they're really worried about how he'll cope - and if he'll even be with them."

To add fuel to the fire tour manager Paul Higgins, who travelled with One Direction, recently parted ways with the band. He'd grown close the boys, who even called him 'Daddy'. But it's thought an argument with Zayn is the reason he left.

"Paul and Zayn haven't seen eye-to-eye for a long time. Now Paul has decided to move on," the source said.

Zayn, 21, is currently engaged to UK singer Perrie Edwards, but they are yet to plan their wedding. With much speculation about the state of their relationship, things could be getting too much for the young star.

"It's obvious Zayn is unhappy," the insider sighed. "It's thought he is seriously considering leaving One Direction."
