Grant Nicholas today announced further touring activity in support of his sublime debut solo album ‘Yorktown Heights’.
Following an overwhelming reaction to the autumn 2014 tour, Grant has this week announced ten more shows in the UK and Ireland with European shows to be announced shortly.
‘Yorktown Heights’ is Grant’s first solo album and was released via his own label Popping Candy on 11th August. The album was largely self-produced by Nicholas in various London and UK studio’s with additional production from Sam Miller and Brian Sperber (Julian Casablancas, Dinosaur Jr.) at Tiny Pocket Studio’s in Yorktown Heights (New York) – which eventually became inspiration for the album title. ‘Yorktown Heights’ is by Grant’s own admission, a love letter to the sound of Laurel Canyon in the 70’s. “I definitely had a 70’s vibe in my head for this record,” he says, citing Tom Petty, Neil Young and Nick Drake as inspirations.
Grant also added “The October leg of the Yorktown Heights tour were some of the most enjoyable shows I have ever played as a musician and I was very keen to head back out and cover some of the towns we missed. I was blown away by all the support and want to thank everyone who came out. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on the next leg in February.”
Grant has amassed 3 million album sales with Feeder, including 8 Platinum & Gold records. His first release as a solo artist, the album is his most personal music to date even complete with cover art designed by his nine-year-old daughter Hana Sky. There is also a video to accompany every song on “Yorktown Heights”.
