Taylor Swift finds it liberating to laugh at the nasty comments people say about her.
The slender singer is back in the charts with her new album 1989, which sees her leaving her country roots behind for a more pop sound.
As one of the most famous faces in the world, Taylor often finds herself the subject of media scrutiny and negativity via social media accounts. Instead of getting down about it, the 24-year-old simply laughs it off.
“Being willing to have a sense of humour about what people say about you, that’s a really liberating feeling,” Taylor revealed to British newspaper Metro. “The only things I have control over are how I treat people, how hard I work, how much I challenge myself as an artist… everything else is up for people’s interpretation. So I have to kind of let go.”
Taylor also dropped by US TV show The View yesterday to promote her new music.
She opened up the hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell, about her personal life and the friends she surrounds herself with.
“I look for people who really have their own passion in life. My friends, they all are chasing their own dreams, and they all have their own ambitions,” she smiled.
Taylor’s famous pals include British singer Ed Sheeran and Girls star and creator Lena Dunham. She’s also close to supermodel Karlie Kloss.
“You're supposed to surround yourself with people who challenge you and motivate you and make you want to be smarter, stronger, better. So that's what my friends do for me and I'm so happy to have so many good ones right now.
"Lena and I relate because we're writers first and foremost and because we're super enthusiastic about everything. When you first meet her she's acting like you're a long-lost friend and that's what's so amazing about her,” she gushed.
