The Rolling Stones have put footage of their performance on ‘Jumping Jack Flash’ from their Adelaide show on Saturday night online at their official website.
The Stones opened the Adelaide show with the 1969 classic.
‘Jumping Jack Flash’ was a welcome return to rock and roll for The Stones coming directly after their experimental album ‘Their Satanic Majesties Request’. The song was recorded during the sessions for the ‘Beggars Banquet’ album but used as a single and left off the album. It would surface the following year on the compilation ‘Through The Dark Pastly’.
‘Jumping Jack Flash’ became a Stones classic and later covered by Aretha Franklin, Leon Russell, Tina Turner and Johnny Winter.
The song was written about Keith Richards’ gardener Jack Dyer who Keith referred to as Jumping Jack.
