Courtney Love thinks strippers "relate" to her because she "tips like a maniac".

The 50-year-old singer worked as an exotic dancer before making it big with her band Hole so feels a certain affinity with the profession.

Earlier this week Courtney and Dave Grohl caused raised eyebrows when they were overheard making a bet about strippers while at a book launch party. Dave was in Nirvana with Courtney's late-husband Kurt Cobain, with the pair falling out for years before making up as the grunge band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.

"I used to be [a stripper], and I tip like a maniac so they relate to me,” Courtney told New York Post. “That’s the whole premise. That’s why we made the bet."

The two stars have each wagered $10,000, with the bet over who can "get the most strippers". They were supposed to take each other on at New York City strip club Scores, but Courtney ended up going home early.

"I’m taking him down!" Courtney laughed.

"I had a few too many shots, but I would have kicked his ass. I can remember the pole. That was a long time ago.”

Dave and his pals apparently had a great time at the club, with the Foo Fighters star apparently splashing out $10,000 on tequila, champagne and some private dances. He impressed with his good manners according to New York Post, although Courtney isn't ready to forget about their agreement just yet.

"the bet is still on @davegrohl we’ll do the wager out west and I swear I’ll win! (sic)," she wrote on Twitter the day after the party.

Dave isn't the only star Courtney has been bonding with lately. She also has a lot of time for Jennifer Hudson, who spent time with at the Turn It Up For Change Ball Benefiting LGBT Equality at the W Hotel in New York this week.

"Jennifer Hudson your voice is amazing! As we all know @IAMJHUD #lovehasnolimit (sic)," she wrote on Twitter, alongside a picture of her and Jennifer posing together.
