Following the announcement of the release of her seventh studio album, Nostalgia, Annie Lennox has launched a live performance video of her version of ‘Georgia On My Mind.’

“Travelling on with Mr Carmichael (who co- wrote the song with Stuart Gorrell) the journey takes us back to “Georgia” — as much a geographical location as it might be the name of a metaphorical woman.” Says Lennox. “The song is steeped with nostalgia in the fullest sense of the word…yearning for times and places from a distant past where "still in peaceful dreams I see the road leads back to you" and moonlight still shines magically through the pines. I suspect everyone has a "Georgia" in their hearts and minds, whether it be a physical place, or the memory of a cherished person who continues to be a lasting object of longing and desire.”

The live performance video premiered on Elle yesterday and is a preview of what is to come from Annie's forthcoming album. It follows Lennox’s stunning live performances of “Summertime” and "I Put A Spell On You".

Produced by Lennox and frequent collaborator Mike Stevens, Nostalgia is a collection of the legendary singer-songwriter’s impassioned takes on iconic American compositions that still continue to resonate in our complex contemporary world – songs like ‘Memphis In June’, ‘Strange Fruit’, ‘I Can Dream, Can’t I?’ and ‘God Bless The Child’. Paying tribute to some of the finest composers and artists of the 20th century – including Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and Billie Holiday – Annie interprets compositions that have moved her, stripping them down to their emotional and musical core and making them her own.

Nostalgia will be released by Island Records on 27th October 2014.
