Iggy Azalea used to feel isolated by rap.

The Australian star has made a name for herself all over the world by spitting catchy lyrics. But one thing she's managed to avoid is referencing her home, so as not to alienate her fans from elsewhere.

"As a kid loved rap but alot of lyrics were SO heavily themed around where you came from, it made me feel i didnt have a place," she wrote to her followers on Twitter.

"I shared my journey in WORK but make it a point not to mention much about any place wether it be where i was birthed or where i now reside.

"Because i approach writing as if I'm making music for my 14 year old self to hear and i don't want her to feel left out. (sic)"

The 24-year-old has had a great year, dominating the charts with hits such as Fancy, Black Widow, Booty and Problem. She hopes her success will inspire people keen to follow a similar career path.

"I'm the product of how powerful music is and how far it can reach. I'm one of those kids and i love it," she tweeted.

"and i love love love to see and hear about other kids from all around the world discovering that maybe rap music is for them too. :) (sic)"

But Iggy has experienced some of the downsides of fame, too. She's allegedly been involved in feuds with Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg and yesterday took to Twitter to criticise her Australian record label. The blonde star slammed the label for reportedly allowing old images of her to be sold to magazines, but later deleted the posts from her page.
